In 2017 the CDA is working with local councils, Hampshire Highways, the Police, the National Park, and others to find new ways to reduce accidents involving commoners animals. In 2017 the CDA has begun promoting the message "Add 3 minutes" to emphasise that even a small change in behaviour can make a big difference. Slowing down from around 40mph to 30mph would add just 3 minutes to even some of the longest commutes across the Forest.
Individual commoners and other supporters on social media are now using the hashtag #add3Minutes to keep pushing this simple message to drivers. The CDA is also working hard to improve knowledge about commoning and the hashtag #RealNewForest is being widely used to support messages about the cultural heritage of the New Forest and the central role of commoners and their animals to its maintenance.
